In Feb 2010 amount of deposits attracted by commercial banks of Armenia grew by 2.3% to $1.7bln
ArmInfo. In Feb 2010 as compared with Feb 2009 the amount of the deposits attracted by the commercial banks of Armenia grew by 36.3% to 664.4bln AMD or $1.7bln. In Feb 2010 alone the index grew by 2.3%.
The share of AMD was 25.3% or 168bln AMD ($436.9mln), that of foreign exchange deposits - 74.7% or $1.3bln (496.4bln AMD). As compared with Feb 2009 the share of AMD deposits grew by 7.5%, as compared with Jan 2010 it dropped by 0.3%.
According to the preliminary data of the Central Bank of Armenia provided by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of non-residents' deposits was 18% or 118.8bln AMD (1.6% drop in Feb 2010 and 31.1%$ growth as compared with Feb 2009). In their structure AMD deposits made up 7.5bln AMD (+1.2% and +10.3%), foreign exchange deposits - 11.3bln AMD (-2% and +33%).
The share of residents' deposits was 82% or 545.6bln AMD: 160.6bln AMD were AMD deposits (+1% and +4.8%), 385.1bln AMD - foreign exchange deposits (+4.1% and +58). In the structure of resident's deposits the share of call deposits made up 33.7% or 224.2bln AMD (+5.2% and +30.7%), the share of time deposits - 48.3% or 321.4bln AMD (+2 and +42.6).
Residents' AMD call deposits grew by 4.4% in Feb 2010 and by 25.5% as compared with 25.5% to 101.9bln AMD while residents' foreign exchage call deposits grew by 6% and 35.4%, respectively. Residents' AMD time deposits dropped by 4.3% in Feb 2010 and grew by 18.6% as compared with Feb 2009 to 58.7bln AMD. Residents' foreign exchange time deposits grew by 3.3% and 2 times to 262.7bln AMD.
Mar 1 2010 the population's deposit balance totalled 302.2bln AMD - 2.8% more than in Jan 2010 and 49% more than in Feb 2009. In Feb 2010 time deposits of the population grew by 3.2%, as compared with Feb 2009 - by 45% to 223.9bln AMD
In Feb 2010 the interest on AMD deposits grew from 7.79% to 8.56%, as compared with Feb 2009 it dropped by 0.3%.
