In Q1 2010 summary assets of Armenian banking system grew by 4,3% to $3.5 bln
ArmInfo. In I qt 2010 the summary assets of the Armenian banking system grew by 4,3%, having amounted to 3.5 bln AMD (1.384 trln AMD) by 31 March, the press-service of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) told ArmInfo.
The summary volume of crediting of natural persons by commercial banks increased by 4,2% in I qt 2010, having totalled $743.8 mln (297.9 bln AMD) by March 31. The loans provided to related parties and bank employees grew by 3,2% to 22.2 bln AMD ($55.5 mln). The volume of crediting of legal persons increased by 7,9% to 427.4 bln AMD ($1.1 bln). The commercial banks' investment in government securities decreased by 2,2% to $266.5 mln (106.7 bln AMD). The funds on nostro-accounts in banks increased by 23,8% to 106.3 bln AMD ($265.4 mln).
Liabilities to CBA (including corresponding accounts) decreased by 4,1% to 184.8 bln AMD ($461.4 mln). Liabilities to the banks and other financial organizations decreased by 12,9% to 70.1 bln AMD ($175 mln). The cash funds grew by 2,9% to 66.6 bln AMD ($166.2 mln). The fixed assets declined by 0,9% to 60.7 bln AMD. The reserve of coverage of possible losses in assets (mostly in loans) declined by 4,5% to negative 17.6 bln AMD ($44 mln).
According to the CBA data, as of March 31, 2010, there were 22 commercial banks in Armenia and 389 branches as against 391 branches as of December 31, 2009.
