ArmInfo. Last week (26 April-2 May) Armenian banks provided loans worth 16.2 bln AMD and $35.2 mln, the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the current week (30 April-7 May) the banks bought $52.5 mln at the average exchange rate of 384,63 AMD/$1, and sold $60.4 mln at the average exchange rate of 386,16 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients). Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $10.2 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 387,43 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia; the biggest volume was registered on 5 and 6 May ($3.4 mln and $2.8 mln respectively). Currency purchase and sale operations worth $350 thsd were carried out at the average exchange rate of 384,71 AMD/$1 in the interbank currency market from 30 April till 7 May.
To note, as of 1 April 2010, the summary provision of crediting of the Armenian banking system amounted to 830.6 bln AMD or $2.1 bln, having increased by 6,7% over Q1 2010 (against 4.6% growth over Q1 2009). As compared with Q1 2009, this index grew by 23%.
