The volume of private transfers to Armenia amounted to $225 mln by the end of 1Q 2010 having grown by 18% as against 1Q 2009

The volume of private transfers to Armenia via the commercial banks and account and payment organizations amounted to 102 bln drams ($225 mln) by the end of 1Q 2010 having grown by 18% as against 1Q 2009. As press-service of Armenian Central Bank reported, the total of 53 bln drams ($132 mln) were transferred over the reported period, by 22% more than at the same period of 2009. As a result, the net inflow of transfers amounted to 49 bln drams which is by 6 bln drams more than in the 1Q 2009.
The total of 69 bln drams (number - 319336) transfers entered Armenia via the commercial banks having exceeded the index of the money transfers from Armenia to abroad by 6,1 times. This index grew by 17 bln drams if compared with 1Q 2009. The given transfers were implemented via 17 inter4national payment systems including UNIStream, Anelik, Contact, Money Gram, Migom, etc. The average size of one transfer was 216 thsd drams in the 1Q 2010 having increased by 28 thsd if compared with the 1Q 2009.
At the same time, the total of 32 bln drams were repaid individual persons in the 1Q 2010 via the correspondent accounts of the commercial banks of Armenia, which is by 4,7% or 1.5 bln drams lower of the indicator of the same period of 2009. But the average size of such payment almost has not changed and amounted to 1.8 mln drams. At the same time, money transfers from Armenia to abroad via the correspondent accounts of commercial banks amounted to 42 bln drams in the 1Q 2010 having increased by 17% or 6 bln drams as against the same period of 2009.
The volume of the money transfers to Armenia via the inter-bank accounts (SWIFT, Telex, Fax) amounted to 693 bln drams (number of transfers - 35629) in the 1Q 2010. The average size of one transfer amounted to 19 mln drams, having increased by 27% if compared with 1 Q 2009.
The total of 1 bln drams were transferred to Armenia via local payment organizations in the 1Q 2010, including 0.9 bln drams at the expense of membership in international payment systems. The total of 0.1 bln drams were tranferred from Armenia to abroad via these organizations. The average size of one transfer was 93 thsd drams having decreased by 2 thsd drams if compared with 1Q 2009.
