Armenian banks lent 13.7 billion drams and 27.5 million US dollars over last week
ArmInfo. Armenian banks lent 13.7 billion drams and 27.5 million US dollars over last week (May 10-16), the Armenian Central Bank told ArmInfo.
The source reported that over the current week (May 17-21) in the inter- bank currency market (transactions with clients) banks purchased $47.1 million at the average exchange rate of 384.44AMD/1USD and sold $56.2 million at the average exchange rate of 385.94/1USD. Foreign exchange purchase and sale at NASDAQ OMX Armenia for May 17-21 2010 totaled $6.85 million at the average exchange rate of 384.5 AMD/1 USD (the highest volume of transaction was registered on May 17 and 20). For the period under review (May 17-21) foreign exchange operations in the inter-bank market totaled $100.000 million at the average exchange rate of 385.7 AMD/1USD.
As of April 1 2010 the aggregate credit portfolio of commercial banks of Armenia totaled 830.6bn drams or $2.1 billion growing 6.7% over the quarter versus 4.6% for Q1 2009 and 23% per year.
