ArmInfo. Last week (17-23 May) Armenian banks provided loans worth 17 bln AMD and $30.4 mln, the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the current week (24-27 May) the banks bought $59.7 mln at the average exchange rate of 382,84 AMD/$1, and sold $57 mln at the average exchange rate of 384,22 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients). Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $13.2 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 380,62 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia; the biggest volume was registered on 25 and 26 May ($3.6 mln and $5.1 mln respectively). No currency purchase and sale operations were carried out in the interbank currency market from 6 till 9 April.
To note, as of 1 April 2010, the summary provision of crediting of the Armenian banking system amounted to 830.6 bln AMD or $2.1 bln, having increased by 6,7% over Q1 2010 (over Q1 2009 provision of crediting increased by 4,6%), and by 23% as compared with the same period 2009.
