ArmInfo. Last week (24 - 30 May) Armenian banks provided loans worth 12.1 bln AMD and $37.7 mln, the press service of
the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the current week (31 May-4 June) the banks bought $68 mln at the average exchange rate of 377,13 AMD/$1, and sold $70.6 mln at the average exchange rate of 378,81 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients). Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $12.1 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 376,74 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia; the biggest volume was registered on 1 and 2 June ($5.2 mln and $2.9 mln respectively). Currency purchase and sale operations worth $1 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 377,5 AMD/$1 in the interbank currency market from 31 May till 4 June 2010.
To note, as of 1 April 2010, the summary provision of crediting of the Armenian banking system amounted to 830.6 bln AMD or $2.1 bln, having increased by 6,7% over Q1 2010 (against 4,6% growth over Q1 2009), and by 23% as compared with Q1 2009.
