Armeconombank developing special card projects for pensioners
ArmInfo. Armeconombank jointly with one of the lead pharmacy chains in Armenia is developing a card project for pensioners. Head of the Armeconombank Department for Plastic Cards Vardan Yeghiazaryan told ArmInfo the given project will be launched in 2011. He said the project has a series of advantages: pensioners will be offered local ArCa chip plastic cards protected against forgery; the holders of these cards will receive a 5% discount at the chain of pharmacies. "Chip card memory will contain a unique identification number of the holder. The card can be used in everyday transactions. The chip will send out a signal to the database of the chain of pharmacies and the holder will get there discounts and bonuses," he said. Yeghiazaryan pointed out that the cards will have a new attractive design and the logotypes of Armenconombank and the chain of pharmacies.
He said that a lead specialist of the bank jointly with the programmers of the chain of pharmacies have already developed a program of uninterrupted implementation of the project. "In addition to it, we are going to develop other discount projects on the basis of chip cards with the organizations, including medical establishments, especially necessary to pensioners," he said. The chip card discounts will be available at the organizations the cards will be issued with.
Vardan Yeghiazaryan said that Armeconombank is expected to cover nearly 25%-30% of the pensioners service market in Armenia through card projects. The number of pensioners in the country is 500,000-520,000 people. "We serve a broad net of branches in Yerevan and in the regions and will serve pensioners throughout the country," he said.
To recall, Armeconombank won the UNWFP tender and issued over 1300 plastic cards ArCA to provide funds to the poor sections of the population.
As of June 1 2010 the number of the bank's active cards was 95965, including 74194 ArCa and 21371 MasterCard. Armeconombank serves 54 ATMs, including 4 cash-in advanced models.
