ArmInfo. Last week (12-18 July) Armenian banks provided loans worth 15.5 bln AMD and $38.5 mln, the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the current week (19-23 July) the banks bought $56.5 mln at the average exchange rate of 363,49 AMD/$1, and sold $55.8 mln at the average exchange rate of 365,02 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients). Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $6.7 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 365,77 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia; the biggest volume was registered on 20 and 22 July ($2 mln and $2.7 mln respectively). Currency purchase and sale operations worth $700 thsd were carried out at the average exchange rate of 366,95 AMD/$1 in the interbank currency market from 19 till 23 July.
To note, as of 1 April 2010, the summary provision of crediting of the Armenian banking system amounted to 830.6 bln AMD or $2.1 bln, having increased by 6,7% over Q1 2010 (against 4,6% growth over Q1 2009), and by 23% as compared with Q1 2009.
