Deposits raised by Armenian banks fell by 1,9% to $1.7 bln over June 2010
ArmInfo. Deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks fell by 1,9% over June 2010, and by 3,3% over Jan-Jun 2010 (13,5% annual growth), having totaled 627.7 bln AMD ($1.7 bln) by 1 July 2010. In the structure of raised deposits, the share of deposits in Armenian dram was 27% or 168.9 bln AMD ($464 mln), the share of deposits in foreign exchange was 73% or $1.260 bln (458.7 bln AMD). The share of deposits in drams was up 1,2% for June 2010.
By preliminary data of Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits of non-residents was 16,8% or 105.4 bln AMD (7,6 decline in June, 16,8% annual decline), including 7.1 bln AMD deposits in drams (4,4% growth in June). The share of deposits of non-residents in foreign exchange totaled 98,3 bln AMD (8,4% decline in June).
Deposits of residents made up 83,2% of the total volume of deposits or 522.3 bln AMD, including 161.8 billion drams deposits in terms of Armenian dram (2,3% growth in June, 14,1% annual growth). Deposits of residents in foreign exchange totaled 360.4 billion drams (1,9% decline in June, 26,6% annual growth). The share of call liabilities in deposits of residents was 39,3% or 205.1 bln AMD, the share of time deposits was 60,7% or 317.1 bln AMD.
Call liabilities in drams grew 1,6% in June and by 16,2% annually to 101.9 billion drams, whereas call liabilities in foreign currency grew by 0,5% in June and grew by 29,6% annually to 103.2 billion drams. Time deposits in drams grew by 3,8% to 59.9 bln AMD, whereas time deposits in foreign exchange fell by 2,9% to 257.2 bln AMD. Balance of population deposits as of 1 July 2010 totaled 300.2 billion drams falling by 0,7% in June as compared with May 2010 and growing by 28,3% as compared with June 2009. Time deposits of the population fell by 1,5% for June 2010 and grew by 28% as compared with June 2009 to 223.6 bln AMD.
Interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were down from 9,73% to 9,17% in June 2010, and fell by 0.3% as compared with June 2009.
