Non-prime loans decline while prime and dubious loans grow in credit portfolio of Armenian commercial banks
ArmInfo. Non-prime loans are declining while prime and dubious loans are growing in the credit portfolio of Armenian commercial banks.
The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) told ArmInfo that as of 1 July 2010 prime loans amounted to 869.2 bln AMD, controllable loans - 18.7 bln AMD, non-prime loans - 14 bln AMD and dubious loans - 6.4 bln AMD. Over Q2 2010 the share of controllable loans decreased from 2,5% to 2,1%, non-prime loans - from 1,8% to 1,5%, while the share of prime loans grew from 95,2% to 95,7% and dubious loans - from 0,5 to 0,7%.
The credits and receivables classified by the risk groups declined by 2.1% over Q2 2010 to 908.2 bln AMD ($2.5 bln) by 1 July 2010. This was conditioned by reduction in prime loans by 1,5%, controllable loans - by 20,3%, and non-prime loans - by 14,2%. At the same time, the volume of dubious loans grew by 33%.
According to the CBA's data, as of 1 July 2010 there were 21 commercial banks and 393 branches in Armenia.
