Share of population's deposits in time deposit portfolio exceeds 70%
ArmInfo. In Sept 2010 the amount of bank deposits grew by 0.6%. In Jan-Sept 2010 it dropped by 0.2% while as compared with Sept 2009 it grew by 1.2% to 650.8bln AMD ($1.8bln).
AMD deposits made up 29% of the total or 189.2bln AMD ($523.6mln), foreign exchange deposits - 70.9% or $1.3bln (461.5bln AMD).
The Central Bank of Armenia reports that non-residents' deposits made up 17.4% of the total or 113.2bln AMD (4% drop in Sept 2010). In their structure AMD deposits made up 7.2bln AMD, foreign exchange deposits - 106bln AMD.
Residents' deposits made up 82.6% of the total or 537.6bln AMD: 182bln AMD - AMD deposits, 355.6bln AMD - foreign exchange deposits. In their structure the share of call deposits made up 40.4% or 217.3bln AMD, the share of time deposits - 59.6% or 320.3bln AMD.
In Sept 2010 the population's time deposits grew by 2.3%, as compared with Sept 2009 by 16.9% to 234.9bln AMD (70% of the total).
The interest rates of AMD deposits dropped from 9.45% to 8.94% in Sept 2010 and rose by 0.6% as compared with Sept 2009.
