In Jan-Sept 2010 net profit of 10 insurance companies of Armenia totaled 24.1mln AMD
ArmInfo. In Jan-Sept 2010 the net profit of the 10 insurance companies of Armenia totaled 24.1mln AMD or almost $67,000 - 98% less than in Jan-Sept 2009. Excluding Griar Insurance (who is leaving the market), the loss of the companies would be 138.1mln AMD.
7 companies showed decline in the net profit (Rosgosstrakh-Armenia by 3 times from positive to negative), 3 companies - growth (RESO by 17 times).
According to the Ranking of the Insurance Companies of Armenia, prepared by the Agency of Rating Marketing Information (ArmInfo), with Griar Insurance exclusive, the leader in net profit is ISG - 153.2mln AMD. RASKO showed the smallest net profit - 14.2mln AMD (95.3% annual decline).
In Jan-Sept 2010 5 companies showed a total net profit of 463.3mln AMD while 5 companies - a total loss of 439.2mln AMD. RESO, who entered the market in Q3 2009, registered a 201.7mln AMD loss (the biggest loss and the biggest growth in the index). Without RESO the profit of the other 9 companies would total 225.8mln AMD with the annual fall being 79.8% smaller.
During the same period the insurance profit of Armenia's insurance companies totaled 2.2bln AMD or $6.1mln (53% annual growth). Without Griar Insurance this index would be 2.1bln AMD. INGO Armenia showed the biggest insurance profit - 745.8mln AMD, RESO - the smallest one - 49.6mln AMD. 3 companies registered decline in the index (RASKO by 57%), 7 companies - growth (Rosgosstrakh-Armenia by 55 times to 434.3mln AMD (2nd place)). Griar Insurance had almost no influence on the growth rate of this index.
In Jan-Sept 2010 ROE of the companies made up 0.19%, ROA - 0.12%. ISG is the leader in both indices (13.94% and 8.08%, respectively).
Two companies left the market in Jan-Sept 2010: Alfa-Insurance, whose insurance portfolio has been bought by Rosgosstrakh-Armenia, and London-Yerevan, who has merged with Rosgosstrakh-Armenia. In Oct 2010 Griar Insurance merged with INGO Armenia.
