Plastic cards market in Armenia up 26% in November 2010 as against November 2009
ArmInfo. The number of plastic cards issued by the ArCA member-banks grew 26% since the beginning of the year and reached to 554414 units as of 1 December 2010.
The Armenian Card told ArmInfo, in November of the current year banks issued 20098 cards, which was by 5,2% more than the same indicator of 2009. In general, as of 1 December 2010 the share of the local ArCa cards was 54,4% or 301.5 thsd cards (growth by 9,7% as against the same period of 2009); Visa cards - 27,8% or 154 thsd cards (41,3% growth), and MasterCard - 17,9% or Ё«Ё 99 thsd cards (76% growth).
Transactions were made with 364,1 thsd of the active cards in November 2010 (67% out of total active cards), it is by 19,9% mote than at the same period of 2009. As of December 1 2010 the number of the commerce/service and cash dispensing points (exclusive of ATMs) operating in the ArCa system totaled 2810 (growth by 31,8% as against the same period of 2009), including 329 dispensing points (growth by 8,6%). There were 3269 POS- terminals at the commerce/service points (growth by 34,5%), including 422 at cash-dispensing points (growth by 9,6%. The total of 3094 of total POS- terminals served ArCA cards, 1912 - Visa International and 2782 MasterCard. As of December 1 2010 there were 659 active ATMs, which was by 18,5% than a year ago.
