Credits provided by Armenian commercial banks for 2010 up 26% to $2.6 bln
ArmInfo. Credits provided by the Armenian commercial banks for 2010 were up 26% to 941.5 bln AMD ($2.6 bln) by 1 January 2011. In December 2010 the credits provided by the banks rose by 4,5%. Exclusive of rolled over and overdue credits, this indicator totaled 891.8 billion drams or $2.4 billion, having grown by 4,6% for Dec 2010.
The preliminary data of the Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, say in the total credit portfolio of commercial banks (rolled over and overdue loans exclusive), the share of credits in terms of Armenian dram was 43% or 383.4 bln AMD. The share of foreign exchange credits was 57% or 508.4 bln AMD. The AMD credits in 2010 rose by 8,6% (4,4% growth over December), and foreign exchange deposits grew by 36,8% (4,8% growth for December).
The share of rolled over credits in total was 4,8% or 45.8 bln AMD as of January 1 2011 (almost threefold annual growth, 5.3% growth for December), the share of overdue credits in total was 0,4% or 3.7 bln AMD (36,4% annual decline, 20.1% decline for December).
The share of short-term credits in rolled over credits was 87,5% or 40 bln AMD. Almost all the overdue credits were short-term.
The interests on deposits in terms of the national dram fell for December 2010 from 19,52% to 18,9%, and by 0.1 pct point annually.
