In Jan 2011 monetary base in Armenia declined by 8.7% to $1.3 bln
ArmInfo. In January 2011 the monetary base of Armenia declined by 8.7% and amounted to 463.2 bln AMD ($1.3 bln) as of 1 Feb 2011. According to the preliminary data of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) provided to ArmInfo, over Jan 2011 the monetary base dropped by 1.1% as compared with Jan 2010.
In the structure of monetary base, cash funds outside CBA decreased by 10.1% in Jan 2011, having totalled 312.9 bln AMD by Feb 1 2010. The share of legal AMD reserves in the total monetary base made up 14.4% or 66.6 bln AMD (15.8% monthly growth, over twofold annual growth). The share of legal foreign exchange reserves made up 15.2% or 70.2 bln AMD (20.5% monthly decline, over twofold annual decline).
According to the source, foreign reserves (privatization funds exclusive) declined by 5.2% to 427.7 bln AMD (15.2% annual decline). The share of internal assets dropped by 37% in Jan 2011 and amounted to 35.5 bln AMD by 1 Feb 2011.
In the structure of internal assets, the liabilities before the government amounted to negative 126.5 bln AMD (32.3% decline in January). In the total volume of internal assets, 67.2 bln AMD fell on banks, having increased by 17.1% in January. The volume of REPO agreements declined by 24.7% to 6 bln AMD.
