Deposits with Armenian banks up 7.4% to 697.6 bln drams
ArmInfo. Deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks for Jan 2011 was down 0.7%, but up 7.4% versus 2010 to 697.6 billion drams ($1.9 billion) on Feb 2011. In the structure of raised deposits, the share of deposits in Armenian dram was 29.7% or 207.6 billion drams ($571 million), the share of deposits in foreign exchange was 70.3% or $1.35 billion (490.4 billion drams). The share of deposits in drams in total was down 1.3% for Jan 2011
By preliminary data of Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits of non-residents was 16% (down 3.5% for Jan) to 111.2 billion drams, including 7,3 billion dram deposits in drams ( up 5.8% for Jan), and 103.8 bln drams deposits in foreign exchange (down 4%).
Deposits of residents made up 84% of total or 486.4 billion dram including 199.8 billion drams deposits in terms of the Armenian dram. Deposits of residents in foreign exchange totaled 386.6 billion drams. The share of call liabilities in deposits of residents was 37% or 216.7 billion drams, the share of time deposits was 53% or 369.7 billion drams.
Balance of population deposits as of Feb 1 2011 totaled 356.2 billion drams falling 0.1% for Jan and growing 21.3% per year..
Interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were down from 8.76% to 8.74% in Jan and 0,5% versus 2010.
