Deposits in Armenian banks rise by 3% to 718.9 bln AMD in Feb 2011
ArmInfo. Deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks for Feb 2011 grew by 3%, and by 8.2% as compared with Feb 2010, and totaled 718.9 billion drams ($1.956 billion) by March 1 2011. In the structure of raised deposits, the share of deposits in Armenian dram was 30.3% or 217.7 bln AMD ($592.5 mln), the share of deposits in foreign exchange was 69.7% or $1.36 bln (501.2 bln AMD). The share of deposits in drams was up 0.6% for Feb 2011.
By preliminary data of Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits of non-residents was 16.2% (4.7% growth in Feb) to 116.5 billion drams, including 7.4 billion AMD deposits in drams (1.3% growth in Feb) and 109.1 billion AMD deposits in foreign exchange (5.1% growth in Feb).
Deposits of residents made up 83.7% or 602.4 billion drams, with 201.3 billion AMD being dram deposits, and 392.1 billion AMD being foreign exchange deposits. The share of call liabilities in deposits of residents was 30.3% or 218.1 billion drams, the share of time deposits was 53.4% or 384.2 billion drams.
Balance of population deposits as of March 1 2011 totaled 366.4 billion drams growing by 2.9% versus January 2011 and 21.3% versus Feb 2010.
Interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were up from 8.74% to 9.23% in Feb 2011 and up 0.6% as compared with Feb 2010.
