Money supply in Armenia up 5.6% to $2.5 billion for Q1 2011
ArmInfo. In March 2011 the money supply in Armenia was up 3.5% to 925.8 billion AMD ($2.5 billion) by April 1 2011 and up 5.6% for Jan-Mar 2011 (14% annual growth). As compared to Jan-Jul 2009, money supply grew 11.7%.
Preliminary data of the Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia say that cash circulated out of the banking system grew by 1% in Jan-Mar 2011, and by 12.5% as compared with Jan-Mar 2010, having totaled 278.2 bln AMD by 1 April 2011. The share of deposits in terms of the Armenian dram in total money supply was 28.3% or 230 billion drams. The share of foreign deposits was 51.4% or 417.7 billion drams.
External assets were down 14.2% over March 2011 to 131.7 billion drams (down 27.5% for Jan-Mar 2011 and up more than twofold versus Jan-Mar 2010). Internal assets grew 7.2% in March and 14.3% for Jan-Mar 2011 (up 62% versus Jan-Mar 2010) to 794.1 billion drams.
In the structure of internal assets, liabilities to the government proved at the negative level of 56.3 billion drams (up 19.8% in March). In addition, the share of economy was 1.1 trillion drams (up 4.5% in March). The share of organizations was 604.3 billion drams (up 5.8% in March), the share of households was 427.1 billion drams (up 3.1% in March), and the share of non-commercial enterprises was 13 billion drams (up 0.5% in March).
