Deposits with Armenian banks down 1.08% l for April 2011
ArmInfo. Deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks for April 2011 were down 1.08%, but up 12.8% versus April 2010 and totaled 746.7 bln drams ($2 billion) as of May 1 2011. In the structure of the raised deposits, the share of deposits in terms of the Armenian dram was 29.2% or 217.9 billion drams ($583.2 million), the share of deposits in foreign exchange was 70.8% or $1.415 billion (528.7 billion drams). The share of deposits in drams in total was down 0.5% for April 2011.
By preliminary data of Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits of non-residents was 16.8% or 125.7bln drams (0.3% growth in April), including 8.4 billion dram deposits (5.7% growth for April). The share of deposits of non-residents in foreign exchange totaled 117.3 billion drams (0.1% decline for April ).
Deposits of residents made up 83.1% of total or 620.9 billion dram including 209.5 billion drams deposits in terms of Armenian dram and 411.4 bln drams foreign deposits. The share of call liabilities in deposits of residents was 35.4% or 219.6 billion drams, the share of time deposits was 64.6% or 401.3 billion drams.
Balance of population deposits as of May 1 2011 totaled 391.1 billion drams growing 4.1% versus March and 27.1% versus April 2010.
Interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were up from 9.05% to 9.37% in May and 0.3% versus April 2010.
