In May 2011 economic activity of Armenia grew by 13.7%
ArmInfo. In May 2011 the economic activity of Armenia grew by 13.7% as compared with April, and by 9.9% as compared with May 2010. The growth in May 2011 was ensured mostly due to the 70.3% growth in construction and 49.2% growth in agriculture.
According to the data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in absolute terms the volume of construction in May 2011 amounted to 38.9 bln AMD ($104 mln, 5.1% annual decline), and the volume of agriculture - 52.3 bln AMD ($140 mln, 0.1% annual growth).
The biggest annual growth (in May 2011 versus May 2010) was fixed in electric power generation - by 26.8% to 652.4 mln KW/h (11.5% growth for May), industrial output - by 25.1% to 83 bln AMD ($221.3 mln, 11.4% growth for May).
In May 2011 the trade sphere demonstrated 6.9% growth as compared with April, having amounted to 155.9 bln AMD ($416.5 mln), and 2% growth as compared with May 2010. Services provided to population annually rose by 5.6%, and by 0.2% in May alone, having totaled 68.4 bln AMD ($183 mln). In May 2011 the index of consumer prices underwent no changes as compared with April 2011, and grew by 9% as compared with May 2010.
The average salary amount in May 2011 versus May 2010 grew by 7.2%, and versus April 2011 declined by 0.6% to 112054 AMD ($299).
At the same time, the foreign trade turnover of Armenia rose in May by 5.6% to 177.2 bln AMD ($474 mln), and annually rose by 23%. In its structure export grew by 3.1%, ands import - by 6.5%.
In May 2011 the average AMD/USD exchange rate made up 374.25 AMD/1 USD.
