Clientele of Armenian banks up 1.8% to 1.203 mln customers in April 2011
ArmInfo. By May 1 2011 the clientele base of the Armenian banking system had 1.135 mln individuals and 67.745 thsd legal entities. According to the preliminary data of the Central Bank of
Armenia provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, a total of 1.203 mln customers had 1.917 mln accounts in Armenian banks, of them 1.781 mln being accounts of individuals and 136 thsd - accounts of legal entities.
According to the source, over April 2011 the clientele base of the Armenian commercial banks grew by 1.8% or 22.164 thsd customers; as compared with April 2010, the clientele rose by 3% or 34.203 thsd customers. The number of individuals monthly rose by 2% or 22.334 thsd persons, and the number of legal entities dropped by 0.2% or 170. Over April 2011 the number of accounts opened by legal entities and individuals in the commercial banks of Armenia grew by 1.8% or 34.989 thsd. In the meanwhile, over that period the accounts of legal entities increased by 0.4% or 493, and the accounts of individuals increased by 2% or 34.496 thsd.
As of 1 May 2011, the number of joint accounts in VTB Bank (Armenia) made up 37, and the clientele of these accounts amounted to 3469462, having undergone no changes.
