Deflation in consumer market of Armenia for August 2011 totals 0.6%
ArmInfo. Deflation in the consumer market of Armenia for August 2011 totaled 0.6%. In Jan-Aug 2011 deflation totaled 0.2%, The National Statistical Service of Armenia told ArmInfo deflation in the consumer market of Armenia was observed also in April (0.2%) and within the summer: in Jun - 1.4% and July -3%.
Statisticians say the August deflation is a result of 1% decline of food prices (inclusive of alcohol and tobacco), 0.1% decline of non-foods. Tariffs of services grew 0.1% in the given period of time. Consumer price index in the country totaled 104.8% in August 2011, including food products price index (alcohol and tobacco inclusive) made up 106.9%, non-foods - 103%, tariffs of services - 102.1%. These indicators for Jan-August 2011 versus Jan-August 2010 were as follows: 108.8%, 113.2%, 103.1% and 104.3%, respectively.
Consumer price index for Jan-Aug 2011 totaled 99.8%, including food products price index (alcohol and tobacco inclusive) - 97.9%, non-foods - 101.9%, tariffs and services- 102.2%. The average monthly fall of prices for Jan-Aug 2011 was 0.03% versus 0.6 percentage point growth of prices for the same period of 2010.
In Aug 2011 versus July consumer price index in the surveyed towns was 1.4%-0.1%. In Yerevan, prices fell 0.6%.
