Economic activity of Armenia up 13% for July 2011


ArmInfo. Economic activity of Armenia was up 13% for July 2011 versus June and 7% as against July 2010 after agricultural sector grew 66.2%.

The National Statistical Service of Armenia reported that in absolute terms agricultural produced totaled 96.9 bln drams ($262.2 mln, up 32.4% versus July 2010). In July versus June the volume of services provided to the population grew 7.7% to 78.5 bln drams ($214 mln, up 5.3% versus July 2010). Internal trade grew 5,4% in July and 5.9% versus July 2010 to 166 bln drams ($452.2 mln).

Industrial sector grew 10.2% versus July 2010 and fell 6.7% as against June 2011. In absolute terms, industrial produce totaled 78.2 bln drams ($213 mln). Electricity generation grew 13.3% versus July 2010 and 3.9% versus June 2011 and totaled 662.4 mln kWh.

Nominal salary for July 2011 versus July 2010 grew 6.7% and 4.1% as against June 2011 to 120836 drams ($329).

Consumer price index totaled 97% versus June 2011 and 106.3% versus July 2010.

Foreign turnover was down 7.5% in July to 149.9 bln drams ($408 mln), whereas it grew 3.5% versus July 2010. In the structure of foreign turnover, export fell 8.1% in July and import - 7.3%. As compared to July 2010 export grew 33% and import fell 4%.

The exchange rate of the Armenian dram and US dollar averaged 367AMD/$1USD as of July 2011.
