Deposits in Armenian dram with local banks increased 2.2% for July 2011
ArmInfo. Deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks for July 2011 were up 2.2% (26.2% versus July 2010, and 15.1% for Jan-Jul 2011) and totaled 802.8 billion drams ($2.2 billion).
The share of deposits in Armenian dram in total was 32.1% or 258 billion drams ($709.7 million), the share of deposits in foreign exchange was 67.9% or $1.5 billion (544.8 billion drams). The share of deposits in drams in total volume of deposits in July was up alomost by 2 percentage points.
By preliminary data of Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits of non-residents was 16.1% or 129.2 bln drams (down 3.2% in July). Deposits in dram in July grew 5.5% to 9.4 bln drams. Foreign exchange deports fell 3.5% to 119.8 bln drams.
The share of deposits of residents was 83.9% or 673.6 bln drams of total, including 248.6 bln drams - were drams deposits and 425 bln drams - foreign exchange deposits. In the structure of deposits of residents the share of call liabilities was 39.9% or 268.7 billion drams, the share of time deposits was 60.1% or 404.8 billion drams.
Balance of population deposits as of August 1 2011 totaled 413.9 billion drams growing 1.9% versus July and 32.4% per year.
Interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were down from 9.34% to 8.95% in July and 0.6 percentage points per year.
