Economic activity of Armenia up 21.3% for Aug 2011
ArmInfo. Economic activity of Armenia was up 21.3% for Aug 2011 versus July and 9.6% as against July 2010 after agricultural sector grew 61.9% and construction - 16.3%.
The preliminary data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia say that in absolute terms gross agricultural produce totaled 130.6 bln drams ($355.8 mln, a 21.3% y-o-y growth). Industrial sector grew 12.5% in Aug 2011 versus Aug 2010 to 84.2bln drams ($229.5 mln drams, a 7.8% for Aug alone). Industrial product price index grew 0.5% in August and 7.7% versus Aug 2010. Electricity generation for August totaled 636.4 mln kWh in Aug and showed a 7.9% y-o-y growth and 3.9% decline versus July 2011.
Internal trade grew 8.7% versus July and 6.9% versus Aug 2010 to 179.1 bln drams ($488 mln). In Aug versus Jul 2011 the volume of services provided to the population grew 0.4% to 78.8 bln drams ($214.7 mln, up 4.2% versus Aug 2010). Consumer price index totaled 99.4% in Aug versus 104.8^% a year ago.
Foreign turnover was up 25.8% in Aug to 188.3 bln drams ($513.1 mln), and 25.1% versus Aug 2010. In the structure of foreign turnover, export grew 10.4% in Aug and import - 31.2%. As compared to Aug 2010 export grew 30.6% to 43.1 bln drams or $117.3 mln and import grewl 23.5% to 145.2 bln drams or $395.8 mln.
Average salary for Aug 2011 versus Aug 2010 grew 4.5% and fell 6.5% as against July 2011 to 110700 drams ($302). At budget-funded organizations salary fell 10.2% for Aug to 87758 drams ($239) and rose 5.5% versus Aug 2010. At private organizations salary fell 3.6% to 137018 drams in August but grew 3% versus Aug 2010.
The exchange rate of the Armenian dram and US dollar averaged 367.07AMD/$1USD as of Aug 2011.
