In Aug 2011 monetary base of Armenia grew by 9.9% to 1.6 bln USD
ArmInfo. In Aug 2011 the monetary base of Armenia increased by 9.9% to 583.4 bln AMD ($1.587 bln) by September 1. According to the preliminary data of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) provided to ArmInfo, over Jan-Aug 2010 the monetary base grew by 26%, and by 32.9% against Jan-Aug 2010.
In the structure of monetary base, cash funds outside the CBA increased by 1.2% in Aug 2011, having totaled 359.8 bln AMD by Sept 1 2011. Over Jan-Aug 2011 this index grew by 15%, the annual growth being 17.4%. The share of legal AMD reserves in the total monetary base made up 18.1%, or 105.7 bln AMD, having grown by 1.1% in August. The share of legal foreign exchange reserves made up 18.3% of the total monetary base, or 106.6 bln AMD, having almost doubled over the month under review.
According to the source, foreign reserves (privatization funds exclusive) rose by 11.1% in August to 475.8 bln AMD (11.2% growth for Jan-Aug 2011, 2.8% y-o-y growth).
The share of internal assets increased by 5.3% to 107.5 bln AMD by Sept 2011, having tripled over Jan- Aug 2011. In the structure of internal assets, the liabilities before the government amounted to negative 100.1 bln AMD, having increased by 1.6% in August. The liabilities before the banks grew by 3.5% to 92.3 bln AMD. The volume of REPO agreements grew by 17.3% in August to 13.5 bln AMD.
