Economic activity of Armenia up 17% for Sept 2011
ArmInfo. Economic activity of Armenia was up 17% for Sept 2011 versus Aug 2011 and 9% as against Sept 2010 after agricultural sector grew 39.8% in September.
The preliminary data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia say that in absolute terms gross agricultural produce totaled 169 bln drams ($454.1 mln, an 18.6% y-o-y growth). Industrial sector grew 9.4% in Sept versus Aug 2011 and 16.6% versus Sept 2010 to 92.7bln drams ($249.1 mln drams). Industrial product price index grew 1.2% in Sept and 4.9% versus Sept 2010. Electricity generation for August totaled 686.5 mln kWh in Sept and showed a 23.6% growth for Sept and 15.8% decline versus Sept 2010.
Internal trade grew 4.6% versus August and 1.7% versus Sept 2010 to 188.6 bln drams ($506.6 mln). In Sept 2011 versus Sept 2010 the volume of services provided to the population grew 3.5% to 79 bln drams ($212.2 mln, up 0.3% for Sept alone).
Foreign turnover was up 26.7% in Sept 2011 versus Sept 2010 to 195.4 bln drams ($525.3 mln), and 1.9% versus Aug 2011. In the structure of foreign turnover, export grew 21.8% for Sept and import fell 4%. As compared to Sept 2010 export grew 48.4% and import - 20.1%.
The exchange rate of the Armenian dram and US dollar averaged 372.28AMD/$1USD as of Sept 2011.
