Economic activity of Armenia up 17% for Sept 2011
ArmInfo. Economic activity of Armenia was up 17% for Sept 2011 versus Aug and 9% as against Sept 2011 after agricultural sector grew 39.8% and construction - 18.6%. Construction sector grew 19.4% in September and industrial sector -16.6%, which positively affect the economic activity growth in September.
The preliminary data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia say that in absolute terms gross agricultural produce totaled 169 bln drams ($454.1 mln). Construction sector grew 49.1 bln drams ($132 mln, a 25.2% Y-0-Y decline). Industrial sector grew 9.4% in Sept 2011 versus Aug 2011 to 92.7 bln drams ($249.1 mln drams).
Internal trade grew 4.6% versus Aug to 188.6 bln drams ($506.6 mln) and 1.7% versus Sept 2010. In Sept 2011 versus Sept 2010 the volume of services provided to the population grew 3.5% to 79 bln drams ($212.2 mln, up 0.3% versus Aug 2011). Electricity generation fell 23.6% for Sept and totaled 486.5 mln kWh and showed a 15.8% y-o-y decline.
Average wages for Sept were up 0.8% to 114.463 drams ($307), which was 7/1% higher than a year ago.
Foreign turnover was up 1.9% in Sept to 195.4 bln drams ($525.3 mln), and 26.7% versus Sept 2010. In the structure of foreign turnover, export grew 21.8% in Sept to 53.2 bln drams ($142.9 mln) and 48.4% versus Sept 2010. Import fell 4% in Sept to 142.2 bln drams ($382.4 mln) and grew 20.1% versus Sept 2010.
The exchange rate of the Armenian dram and US dollar averaged 372.28AMD/$1USD as of Sept 2011.
