AMD and USD loans provided by Armenian banks grow almost equally
ArmInfo. Armenian banks lent 27.1 billion AMD (a 10.2% growth over the week) and US$45.4 million (an 11.5% growth) over the last week (Oct 24-30), Armenian Central Bank told ArmInfo.
The source reported that over the current week (Oct 31- Nov 4) in the inter-bank currency market (transactions with customers) banks purchased $66.4 million (down 16.5% over the week) at the average exchange rate of 378.52AMD/1USD and sold $85.8 million (down 0.7%) at the average exchange rate of 379.64/1USD . Foreign exchange purchase and sale in the inter-bank market for Oct 31 -Nov 4 totaled $300.000 at the average exchange rate of 378.75 AMD/1 USD. Last week no transactions were registered in the inter-bank market.
In the given period of time, at NASDAQ OMX Armenia exchange, purchase and sale operations totaled $12.6 million (up 7.7% over the week) at the average exchange rate of 379.35 AMD/US$1. The biggest volume of transactions was registered on Oct 31 - US$4 million. No transactions were registered on Nov 1. As of July 1 2011 the aggregate credit portfolio of commercial banks of Armenia totaled 1.2 trillion drams or US$3.2 billion drams, the growth since the beginning of the year totaled 17.8%, for Q2 2011 - 9%, and versus the same period of 2010 - 40.6%.
