Monetary base in Armenia up around 2% for Oct 2011
ArmInfo. Monetary base in Armenia was up 1.9% for Oct 2011. Preliminary data of the Armenian Central Bank provided by the National Statistical Service of Armenia say that monetary base grew 25.5% for 10 months of 2011 and 30.8% versus Oct 2010 totaling 581.5 billion drams ($1.532 billion) as of Nov 1 2011.  
In the structure of monetary base, cash circulating outside the Central Bank grew 2.2% for Oct to 367.6 bln drams as of Nov 1 2011.  This index grew 17.5% for Jan-Oct 2011 and 17.4% versus Oct 2011. As of Nov 1 2011 the share of compulsory dram reserves in total monetary base made up 18.3% or 106.4 billion drams growing 9.1% for Oct. The share of compulsory foreign exchange reserves totaled 17.2% of total or 99.8 billion drams falling 4.6% for Oct.
The source reported that external reserves (exclusive of privatization funds) were down 3.4% for Oct 2011 to 456.5 billion drams (6.7% growth for Jan-Oct 2011 and 3.7% up versus Oct 2010).  Internal assets totaled negative 125 billion drams for Oct 2011 growing 27.7% as of Nov 1 2011. This index grew 3.5fold. Capital requirement to the government totaled negative 91.8 billion drams growing 8.5% for Oct 2011. The share of banks in total internal assets was 91.8 billion drams growing 12.3% for Oct 2011. In the structure of internal assets, REPO transactions grew 0,1% to 8.5 billion drams.
