In Oct 2011 deposits in Armenian banks grew by 2.8% to $2.37bln
ArmInfo. In Oct 2011 the amount of deposits attracted by Armenia's banks grew by 2.8%, in Jan-Oct 2011 - by 38.6% to 901.6bln AMD or $2.37bln. 30.4% or 273.6bln AMD ($720.8mln) were AMD deposits, 69.6% or $1.654bln (628bln AMD) - foreign exchange deposits.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, 22% or 199bln AMD were nonresident deposits (3.9% more than in Sept 2011), wherein AMD deposits grew by 5% to 10.5bln AMD, while foreign exchange deposits by 3.8% to 188.5bln AMD.
78% or 702.5bln AMD were resident deposits: 253.1bln AMD - AMD deposits, 439.5bln AMD - foreign exchange ones. 38% of resident deposits or 266.7bln AMD were call deposits, 62% or 435.8bln AMD - time deposits.
In Oct 2011 the AMD deposit interest rates grew from 9.01% to 9.2%, in Jan-Oct 2011 - by 0.4%.
