USD loans provided by Armenian banks weekly grow twice, and AMD loans slightly decline
ArmInfo. Last week (21-27 November) Armenian banks provided loans worth 22.7 bln AMD (7% weekly decline) and $64.3 mln (almost twofold growth), the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the current week (28 November-2 December) the banks bought $88.5 mln at the average exchange rate of 381.52 AMD/$1, and sold $108.7 mln at the average exchange rate of 382.82 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients). Over the same period the banks bought 16 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 510.13 AMD/1EUR, and sold 10.6 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 512.15 AMD/1 EUR in the intrabank currency market. In addition, the banks bought 556 mln RUR at the average exchange rate of 12.09 AMD/1RUR, and sold 77.018 mln RUR at the average exchange rate of 12.32 AMD/1 RUR in the intrabank currency market.
Currency purchase and sale operations worth 1.5 mln USD were carried out at the average exchange rate of 382.29 AMD/1USD in the interbank currency market from 28 November to 2 December.
Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $9.45 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 382 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia; the biggest volume was registered on 28 and 30 November ($4.4 mln and $4.3 mln respectively). No operations were registered on December 1 and 2.
To note, as of 1 Oct 2011, the summary provision of crediting of the Armenian banking system amounted to 1.2 trillion AMD, or $3.3 bln, having increased by 24% since early 2011, by 5.3% over Q3 2011 (37.5% y-o-y growth).
