USD loans provided by Armenian banks weekly decline by 1.7%, and AMD loans decline slightly
ArmInfo. Last week (5-11 December) Armenian banks provided loans worth 29.2 bln AMD (1.3% weekly decline) and $38.5 mln (1.7-fold weekly decline), the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the current week (12-16 December the banks bought $95.8 mln at the average exchange rate of 381.74 AMD/$1, and sold $98.6 mln at the average exchange rate of 382.98 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients). In the intrabank market the banks also bought 6.7 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 500.93 AMD/1EUR, and sold 14.4 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 504.86 AMD/1EUR. Over the same period the banks bought 612.9 mln RUR at the average exchange rate of 11.96 AMD/1RUR, and sold 100.2 mln RUR at the average exchange rate of 12.17 AMD/1RUR.
Currency purchase and sale operations worth $1.250 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 382.91 AMD/$1 in the interbank currency market from 12 to 16 December.
Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $16.8 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 382.2 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia; the biggest volume was registered on 12 and 15 December ($5.4 mln and $5.78 mln respectively). No operations were registered on December 14. No EUR or RUR operations were registered.
To note, as of 1 Oct 2011, the summary provision of crediting of the Armenian banking system amounted to 1.2 trillion AMD, or $3.3 bln, having increased by 24% since early 2011, by 5.3% over Q3 2011 (37.5% y-o-y growth).
