Deposits in Armenian banks were up 2.5% to 2.4 bln AMD over Nov 2011
ArmInfo. Deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks for November 2011 grew by 2.5%, and by 28.5% for Jan-Nov 2011, having totaled 924 billion drams ($2.4 billion). In the structure of raised deposits, the share of deposits in Armenian dram was 30.7% or 283.6 billion drams ($740 million), the share of deposits in foreign exchange was 69.3% or $1.67 billion (640.4 billion drams). The share of deposits in drams was up 0.3% for Nov 2011.
By preliminary data of Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits of non-residents was 21% or 193.4 bln AMD (2.9% decline in November). Deposits of residents made up 79% of total or 730.6 billion drams, including 272.4 billion drams deposits in terms of Armenian dram, and the deposits of residents in foreign exchange totaled 458.2 billion drams.
The share of call liabilities in deposits of residents was 38.2% or 278.9 billion drams, the share of time deposits was 61.8% or 451.9 billion drams.
Balance of population deposits as of Dec 1 2011 totaled 461.1 billion drams growing by 3.9% versus October 2011 and by 39.4% over year. Time deposits of the population grew 12.5% for March 2009 and 39.6% per year. Interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were up from 9.01% to 9.28% in November 2011 (0.2% annual y-o-y growth).
