In 2011 financial organizations paid their customers 53mln AMD in compensation due to the agency of the Financial Ombudsman
ArmInfo. In 2011 Armenia's financial organizations paid their customers some 53mln AMD in compensation due to the agency of the Financial Ombudsman.
The press service of the Financial Ombudsman reports that since 2009 they paid 109mln AMD in compensation.
As many as 1,868 complaints have been received so far. 317 complaints have been considered, with 62% of them satisfied. In 2011 the Financial Ombudsman received 803 complaints, considered 145 and satisfied 68% of them.
422 complaints were against banks, 274 against insurance companies, 58 against credit companies, 34 against pawnshops and 15 against other financial organizations.
72 of the considered complaints were against insurance companies, 62 against banks, 8 against pawnshops and 4 against credit companies.
The growth in the number of complaints was due to the introduction of the compulsory motor third-party liability insurance.
The services of the Financial Ombudsman are free and are subsidized by financial organizations.
