In 2011 economic activity of Armenia rose by 5.9%
ArmInfo. Over Jan-Dec 2011 the economic activity of Armenia rose by 5.9% as compared to Jan-Dec 2010.
According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in December 2011 the economic activity grew by 15%, and in Dec 2011 vs Dec 2010 this index grew by 6.1%.
Over Jan-Dec 2011 the economic activity was mostly due to the 14.1% growth in the sphere of industry (7.2% growth as compared to Nov 2011), which amounted to 992.1 bln AMD ($2.6 bln). The price index of the industrial products grew by 9.1% over 2011. The electric power output annually grew by 14.5% (23.7% growth as compared to November 2011) to 7432.7 mln KW/h.
In 2011 the output in the sphere of agriculture grew by 14.1%, and in December alone - by 2.3%, having totaled 825.2 bln AMD ($2.2 bln) in absolute terms. The services provided in 2011 increased by 6.1%, and in December - by 17.6% to 872.4 bln AMD ($2.3 bln).
In 2011 the decline in the construction sector made up 11.5%, while the growth in December vs November made up 33.5%, and the absolute index in this sphere totaled 481 bln AMD ($1.3 bln).
Over the period under review the foreign trade turnover of Armenia totaled $5481 mln (2044.2 bln AMD), having increased by 14.4% as compared to Jan-Dec 2010. Export grew by 27.7%, and import - by 10.7%.
The average AMD/USD exchange rate in Jan-Dec 2011 was 372.5 AMD/1USD.
