Foreign capital in authorized fund of Armenian banking system up from 74% to 75% in 2011

The share of foreign capital in the summary authorized fund of the Armenian banking system grew by 12% in 2011, and over Q4 2011 - by 2.5% (in absolute terms) to 168.8 bln AMD ($437.5 mln), or 75% by 1 Jan 2012 (against 74% by 1 Jan 2011 and 67% by 1 Jan 2010). Over Q4 2011 the authorized capital of the banking system was up 3.4% to 226.1 bln AMD or $596.1 mln. 
The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) told ArmInfo that the summary total capital of the banking system was up 3.7% over Q4 2011 and amounted to 356 bln AMD ($922.6 mln) by 1 Jan 2012. In its structure the share of accumulated profit made up 24% or 85.4 bln AMD ($221.3 mln), which grew by 4.7% in Q4 2011. The main reserves increased by 5.1% over Q4 2011 to 18.6 bln AMD ($48.3 mln) by 1 Jan 2012.
According to the CBA, as of 1 Jan 2012, there were 21 commercial banks and 442 branches in Armenia (against 408 branches as of 1 Jan 2011 and 432 branches as of 1 Oct 2011).
