Time deposits of individuals in Armenian banks up 15.5% to 1.1 bln USD over Q4 2011
ArmInfo. The time deposits of individuals in the Armenian banks grew by 15.5% over Q4 2011 and totaled 429.5 bln AMD or $1.1 bln by 1 Jan 2012. The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) told ArmInfo that the time deposits of legal entities grew by 7.7% over Q4 2011 and totaled 128.9 bln AMD or $334.2 mln by 1 Jan 2012. The call liabilities in the banking system were up 7.4% to 375.8 bln AMD or $974.1 mln.
According to the source, the total liabilities in the banking system of Armenia grew by 11% over Q4 2011 and amounted to 1.7 trillion AMD or $4.4 bln. In their structure the payables to the Government grew by 3% to 82 bln AMD ($212.4 mln) by 1 Jan 2012, other liabilities rose by 24.3% to 64.3 bln AMD, the payable interest dropped by 2.2% to 15.7 bln AMD. The payables to the banks and other financial organizations rose by 11.3% over Q4 2011 and totaled 614.6 bln AMD ($1.6 bln), including 8.7 bln AMD ($22.5 mln) -liabilities on loro-accounts (10% quarterly growth).
According to the CBA, as of 1 Jan 2012, there were 21 commercial banks and 442 branches in Armenia (against 408 branches as of 1 Jan 2011 and 432 branches as of 1 Oct 2011).
