USD loans provided by Armenian banks weekly grow by 21.1%, and AMD loans drop by 11.2%
ArmInfo. Last week (20-24 February 2012) Armenian banks provided loans worth 23.7 bln AMD (11.2% weekly decline) and $52.2 mln (21.1% weekly growth), the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the period from 20 to 17 February 2012 the banks bought $54.9 mln at the average exchange rate of 388.51 AMD/$1, and sold $77.5 mln at the average exchange rate of 389.67 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients).
Over the same period the banks bought 6.055 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 512.95 AMD/1 EUR and 476.4 mln RUR at the average exchange rate of 12.95 AMD/1 RUR, and sold 8.2 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 516.46 AMD/1 EUR and 63.3 mln RUR at the average exchange rate 13.15 AMD/1 RUR.
Currency purchase and sale operations worth $100 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 389.5 AMD/$1 in the interbank currency market from 20 to 24 February.
Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $5.55 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 389.74 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia; the biggest volume was registered on 22 February ($3.5 mln). No transactions on Feb 23 were registered.
No operations with EUR or RUR were registered in the stock exchange or in the interbank market.
