Economic activeness in Armenia down 53,7% for Jan 2012
ArmInfo. The economic activeness in Armenia dropped by 53,7% for Jan 2012 versus December 2011 and grew by 4,4% versus January 2011. The decrease of the economic activeness in January was mainly conditioned by decrease in the sphere of construction by 90,1%, agriculture - by 67,9% and trade - by 67%.
As Armenian National Statistics Service reported, the volume of trade in absolute terms amounted to 105.9 bln drams in January ($273.3 mln, growth by 0,1% versus Jan 2011), agriculture production volume - 15.8 bln drams ($40.7 mln, growth by 0,1% versus Jan 2011), and construction - 8.6 bln drams ($22.1 mln, growth by 0,5%).
The growth (Jan 2012 versus Jan 2011) was fixed most of all in the sphere of industrial production - by 21%, but in January - dropping by 28,2% to 71.6 bln drams ($184.7 mln). Electric power generation grew by 16,9% versus Jan 2011, but dropped by 5,6% in Jan - to 764.2 mln kWt/h. The volume of services to the population grew by 6,7%, and dropped by 21,3% in Jan - to 68.3 bln drams ($176 mln). The index of consumer prices in Jan was 103,6%, and by 104,8% versus Jan 2011.
At the same time, foreign trade turnover of Armenia grew by 5,3% versus Jan 2011, and dropped by 33,9% in Jan to 133.9 bln. drams ($345.9 mln). In its structure the volume of export grew by 0,4% versus Jan 2011, and only in Jan - dropped by 41,8% to 27.7 bln drams ($71.5 mln.), and of import - by 6,6%, and dropped by 31,5% in Jan - to 106.2 bln drams ($274.4 mln.).
The exchange rate of the Armenian dram and US dollar averaged 387,53 AMD/$1USD for Jan 2012.
