Number of banking cards in Armenia up 35,7% for a year


Arminfo. In February 2012 Armenian commercial banks emitted 31636 cards within the frames of ArCa national processing, which is by 15,8% more than in February 2011. The total number of active cards by the end of February 2012 amounted to 798.3 thsd versus 588.4 thsd cards in Feb 2011 (growth by 35,7%).

As Armenian Card reported, in Feb 2012 the banks issued 14747 ArCa cards, growth by 37,4% versus Feb 2011, MasterCard - 9928, growth by 47,5%, Visa - 6961 cards, dropping by 29,4% versus Feb 2011.

In the structure of active cards MasterCard was the leader in Feb 2012 versus Feb 2011 - growth by 52,1% up to 178.2 thsd cards as of 1 March, then comes ArCa cars - growth by 34,6% up to 410.1 thsd cards and then Visa - growth by 26,2% up to 210.1 thsd cards.
