Consumer confidence is currently growing but will drop in the longer run 
ArmInfo. In Q1 2012 the consumer confidence index in Armenia grew from 90.9% to 106.7%, while against Q1 2011 it grew from 97.6% to 103.5%.
The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia reports that the present situation sub-index grew from 86.6% to 122.1% as compared with Q1 2011 and from 96.5% to 103.3% as compared with Q4 2011, while the future situation sub-index dropped from 105.5% to 92.6% and grew from 88.9% to 109.5%, respectively.  
The major purchase component of the present situation index grew by 38.7% to 110.1%. 
The sub-index of households' assessment of the current economic situation grew by 24.5% to 104.4%, the quarterly income change sub- index by 2.4% to 93.9%.
In Q1 2012 the future situation sub-index dropped by 7.4% against 10.7% decline in Q4 2011. The income change expectations were pessimistic - 8.9% decline to 91.1% as compared with Q1 2011 against 24.3% growth in Q1 2012 to 124.3%. The expectations of major purchases in the next quarter declined by 10.6% to 89.4% as compared with Q1 2011 and by 5.6% to 94.4% in Q1 2012.
This survey has been held on a regular basis since 2005 and is based on the methodologies of Conference Board (US) and IFO (Germany).
