Deposits in Armenian banks grew by 40.6% to 2.6 bln USD by late Feb 2012
ArmInfo. Deposits raised by Armenian commercial banks for Feb 2012 were down 0.3% over Feb 2012 and up 40.6% versus Feb 2011, having totaled 1.011 trillion AMD ($2.6 bln) by 1 March 2012.
In the structure of the raised deposits, the share of deposits in Armenian dram was 30.9% or 312.2 billion drams ($803 million), the share of deposits in foreign exchange was 69.1% or $1.8 billion (699 billion drams). The share of deposits in drams was up 1.1 points for Feb 2012.
By preliminary data of Armenian Central Bank provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of deposits of non-residents was 23% or 232.7 bln AMD (4.7% decline for Feb 2012), including 14.9 billion dram deposits in drams (14.5% growth for Feb 2012).
The share of deposits of non-residents in foreign exchange totaled 217.8 billion drams (5.8% decline for Feb 2012). Deposits of residents made up 77% of total or 778.4billion drams including 297.3 billion drams deposits in terms of Armenian dram. Deposits of residents in foreign exchange totaled 481.2 billion drams.
The share of call liabilities in deposits of residents was 35.3% or 274.5 billion drams, the share of time deposits was 64.7% or 504 billion drams.
Balance of population deposits as of March 1 2012 totaled 497.2 billion drams growing by 1% versus Jan 2012 and by 35.7% versus Feb 2011. Interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were down from 10.07% to 9.48% in Feb 2012, and rose by 0.25 points versus Feb 2011.
