AMD loans of Armenian banks for past week fell 22.2%, amid halved USD loans
ArmInfo. Armenian banks lent 26.3 billion AMD (down 22.2% for the past week) and US$33.3 million (over twofold decline) over the last week (April 2-8), Armenian Central Bank told ArmInfo.
The source reported that over the current week (April 10-14) in the inter-bank currency market (transactions with customers) banks purchased $79 million (up 13.1% over the week) at the average exchange rate of 391.17AMD/1USD and sold $82.2 million (down 13.6%) at the average exchange rate of 392.21/1USD. In addition, the banks purchased 6.1 million EUR at the average exchange rate of 515.59AMD/1EUR and sold 11.6 million EUR at the average exchange rate of 515.59 AMD/1EUR. Banks purchased also 581 million rubles at the average exchange rate of 13.14AMD/1RUR and sold 115.7 million rubles at the average exchange rate of 13.35AMD/1RUR.
Foreign exchange purchase and sale in the inter-bank market for April 10-14 totaled $500 million (down 16.7%) at the average exchange rate of 392.34 AMD/1 USD. Foreign exchaghe operations on purchase and sale at NASDAQ OMX Armenia totaled $8.74 million (almost 2fold decline) at the average exchange rate pf 392.3AMD/1USD. The biggest volume of transactions were registered on April 13 - $2.95 million. No purchase and sale transactions with EUR or RUR were registered at the exchange and inter-bank market in the period from April 2 to 6.
As of Jan 1 2012 the aggregate credit portfolio of commercial banks of Armenia totaled 1.3 trillion drams or $3.5 billion, the growth for 2011 was 33.6%. for Q4 alone - 7.7%.
