Armenian Card is working to launch new software of card payments system
ArmInfo. Armenian Card (ArCa), the national payment operator of Armenia, is working to launch new software of the card payments system. The press service of ArCa told ArmInfo that 7 automated banking systems (ABS) are currently being linked up to the new software.
The source says that at the moment ArCa is taking relevant steps connected with certification of the new software by the international payment systems, whose operations are served by ArCa processing. In particular, a list of test tasks has already been coordinated with each of these systems. The test version of the software platform has been set up; new cards and POS-terminals have been registered. The simulators of the international payment systems are completely re-equipped; the test versions of these systems have been set up.
According to the source, the current software of ArCa processing center was launched 11 years ago. Over this period, it has become out of date against the background of technical and technological progress and it fails to satisfy the up-to-date business needs both technically and morally. The key peculiarity of the new software is that each bank will be free in its "card ideas", as the new platform will be very flexible in terms of implementation of unique card projects. The new system completely meets the international security requirements, which is proved by the certificate of compliance with Payment Application Data Security Standards.
To note, Armenian Card CJSC was founded in March 2000. At present, the shareholders of ArCa are the Central Bank of Armenia and 17 commercial banks of Armenia. Since 2001 Armenian Card has been a processing center ensuring not only the issue of the local ArCa cards, but also the issue and acquiring of MasterCard Worldwide cards, acquiring of Visa Int. cards with the status of Member Service Provider (MasterCard) and Third Party Processor (Visa Int.). In 2010 Armenian Card became a processing center of the American Express international payment system (Third Party Processor).
