AMD depreciates against USD by 4.9%


ArmInfo. AMD depreciated in value against USD by 4.9% in April 2012 versus the same period of 2011, the National Statistical Service of Armenia reports. The average exchange rate for April 2012 totaled 392.02AMD/US$1 versus 373.65AMD/US$1 in April 2011.

The source reports that consumer prices fell 0,6% in April versus March accompanied with 0.7% depreciation of the AMD against US dollar. In Jan-Apr 2012 amid 2.1% inflation, the dram depreciated against USD by 2.3%. For comparison, in Jan-Apr 2011 inflation totaled 5% amid 3.6% depreciation of the AMD against USD. In April 2011 depreciation totaled 1.5% amid 0.2% inflation.
