AMD loans provided by Armenian banks grow by 4.3% and USD loans drop by 18%
ArmInfo. Last week (7-13 May) Armenian banks provided loans worth 24.5 bln AMD (4.3% weekly growth) and $36.8 mln (18% weekly decline), the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo.
According to the source, over the current week (14-18 May) the banks bought $75.2 mln at the average exchange rate of 395.39 AMD/$1, and sold $90.7 mln at the average exchange rate of 396.7 AMD/$1 in the intrabank currency market (transactions with clients). Over the same period the banks bought 145.7 mln EUR at the average exchange rate of 508.18 AMD/1EUR, and sold 152.8 mln EUR at the exchange rate of 508.36 AMD/ 1EUR. The banks also bought 597.4 mln RUR at the average exchange rate of 12.82 AMD/1RUR and sold 109.8 mln RUR at the exchange rate of 13.04 AMD/1RUR.
Currency purchase and sale operations worth $3.5 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 397.36 AMD/$1 in the interbank currency market from 14 to 18 May.
Over the given period currency purchase and sale operations worth $17.5 mln were carried out at the average exchange rate of 397 AMD/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia; the biggest volume was registered on 16 May - $8.550 mln.
No purchase and sale transactions with EUR or RUR were fixed at NASDAQ OMX Armenia or in the interbank market.
To note, as of 1 April 2012, the summary provision of crediting of the Armenian banking system exceeded 1.4 trillion AMD or $3.6 bln, having increased by 31% versus the same period of 2011 and by 6% over Q1 2012.
