Plastic cards of Armenian commercial banks were used in 1.1 million transactions in the amount of 47.7 bln drams in April
ArmInfo. In April 2012 plastic cards of Armenian commercial banks were used to make 1.1 million transactions in the amount of 47.7 bln drams. Armenian Card told ArmInfo the number of transactions for April grew 0.1%, while the volume of transactions fell 1.9%. In particular, the number of
ATM transactions totaled 904.7 thousand (up 0.4% for April versus March) in the amount of 34.9 bln drams (down 3%). The share of ArCa cards in ATM transactions was 580.6 thousand transactions in the amount of 22.7 bln drams. Transactions through POS-terminals numbered 122.1 thousand (down 2.3%) in the amount of 11.8 bln drams (up 1.7%). The share of ArCa cards in total POS-terminal transactions was the largest - 56.1 thousand transactions for nearly 4.4 bln drams.
The number of e-transactions totaled 65.2 thousand for April 2012 (up 0.7%), while the volume of e- transactions totaled 911.5 mln drams (down 7.1%). The leader in e-transactions was Visa International system - 15.1 thousand transactions in the amount of 368.9 mln drams.
The source reports that in April 2012 transactions with ArCa system cards totaled 580.8 thousand (up 2.5%) in the amount of 22.7 bln drams (down 0.7%). Transactions with Visa cards totaled 284 thousand (down 2.7%) in the amount to 15.8 bln drams (down 3.4%), and transactions with MasterCard system cards totaled 227.2 thousand (down 2.2%) in the amount of 9.1 bln drams (down 2.5%). In April the average amount of a transaction totaled 43672 drams: Visa - 55527 drams, MasterCard - 40363 drams and ArCa - 39171 drams.
As of May 1 2012 the number of registered trade points wad 4122, which is 2.5% more than in March (up 28.9% versus April 2011). The number of POS-terminals at the given trade points was 4601 (up 2.3% for April 2012 and down 25.9% versus April 2011). Only 3334 POS-terminals were used in transactions (80.9% of total), which is 20.1% more than a year ago.
By data of Armenian Card, the number of active cards as of May 1 2012 totaled 836.1 thousand, including ArCa - 430.1 thousand, Visa - 219.4 thousand, and MasterCard - 186.6 thousand.
