In Jan-Apr 2012 bank deposits in Armenia grew by 6.5% to $2.634bln
ArmInfo. In Jan-Apr 2012 bank deposits in Armenia grew by 6.5% to 1.033trl AMD or $2.634bln. In Apr 2012 alone the index grew by 1.9%, as compared with Apr 2011 by 38.4%.
The Central Bank of Armenia reports that 31.7% of the deposits or 327.4bln ($834.8mln) were AMD deposits (6.3% growth in Jan-Apr 2012, 0.2% drop in Apr 2012 and 50,2% growth as compared with Apr 2011), 68.3% or 705.9bln AMD ($1.8bln) were foreign exchange deposits (+6.7%, +2.9% and +33.5%, respectively).
22.4% of the deposits or 231.1bln AMD were non-resident deposits (+4.2%, +5.4% and +83.8%): 15.6bln AMD in AMD deposits and 215.5bln AMD in foreign exchange deposits. 77.6% of the deposits or 802.1bln AMD were resident deposits: 311.8bln AMD in AMD deposits and 490.3bln AMD in foreign exchange deposits.
34.6% of the resident deposits or 278bln AMD were call deposits (26.6% more than Apr 1 2011, 2% more than in Mar 2012 and 2.4% less than in Dec 2011) and 65.4% or 524.1bln AMD time deposits (+30.6%, +0.3% and +9.8%, respectively).
The interest rates of AMD deposits grew from 8.55% to 8.96% in Apr 2012, dropped by 0.4% as compared with Apr 2011 and by 1.3% as compared with Dec 2011.
